109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

On 24 April 2024, marking the 109th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, Ambassador of Armenia in India Vahagn Afyan attended the Intercessional Rite of the Holy Martyrs of the Armenian Genocide, led by Reverend Father Tatchat Tsaturyan at the Armenian Holy Church of Nazareth in Kolkata. Ambassador also laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, the sole one of its kind in India, situated in the church yard.

On that very day, Counsellor Tigran Grigoryan and First Secretary Vladimir Poghosyan of the Embassy of Armenia in India visited the Armenian cemetery in Agra, the historic first Armenian colony in India. They paid their respects and surveyed the well-preserved Armenian tombstones, some of which have endured for over 400 years.

The Embassy's Counsellor, Marat Melikyan, took part in an Art Exhibition commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The exhibition, curated by the artist Mari Poghosyan Prashant, was held at the St. Mary Armenian Church in Chennai. Among the attendees was the Honorary Consul of Armenia in Chennai, Shivkumar Eashwaran.
